 Abondance,
Richebourg and La Chapelle d'Abondance are situated a few minutes from the
resort of Chatel and the Portes du Soleil. Typical Savoie villages, they
offer the opportunity to stay in traditional surroundings yet with easy
access to fantastic skiing. With more than 100 years of hotel and craft
traditions, the villages appeal to those who appreciate local culture and
regional specialities such as the famous Abondance cheese, the Reblochon,
and various meat delicacies. There are regular bus shuttles to the village
of Chatel to connect with the extensive lift network.
Abondance in summer:
There are lots of activities in the summer such as hiking,
horse-riding or mountain biking allowing visitors to explore the fabulous
lakes and mountains. You can also play tennis, go paraponting, rafting,
swimming, fishing or simply relax and take in the beauty of the
surroundings.
Abondance in winter:
 The
ski area offers excellent skiing for all levels. You can explore the
Abondance valley by cross country ski runs which follow the Dranse river
which runs through the valley. It is possible to go alpine skiing in the
area of Essert to Abondance and from Cret Benit to La Chapelle d'Abondance.

Access: Abondance
is one of the easier areas in the Alps to reach with Geneva only 70km (42
miles) away. There's a weekend bus service to and from the airport.
The nearest rail station is at Thonon-Les-Bains, 15km (9 miles) distant
which is served by TGV from Paris. Taxis or a bus service (up to six
times daily on Saturdays) link the station to the resort.
Drivers from the north should arrive on the A40 motorway towards Geneva,
taking the Annemasse exit. Follow the road to Thonon and then on to
Abondance.
A regular ski bus runs throughout the area from 8.30am to 9.30pm. The
bus service is free. Seven different routes are followed indicated by
different colour codes.
