The Gasteinertal
is a good choice for everybody, plenty to do whatever your preference. Historical,
family friendly spa resort, 80 km south of Salzburg. Locally: bar,
disco, casino, concerts. Chemist, doctor. Indoor pool. Access:, railway
station in the resort. Alpine and rocks thermae. Sightseeing: Alpine museum,
birds park, mines museum in Bockstein, the church of St Niklaus.

Access:
The nearest international airport to the resort
is Salzburg, 90km (55 miles) away by the A10 motorway, exit at Bishofshofen if visiting
from the north, or at
Mallnitz, Villach if arriving from the south. Travel to the resort from the
larger international airport of Munich is via the same route from the north.
Access is rarely a problem due to the resort's location and major access roads.
There is a rail station in Bad Gastein.
Gasteinertal in summer
Bathing lake. Tennis, 18 hole golf course. Riding, fishing, paragliding.
4 mountain lifts and cable cars, walking paths, mountain walks, climbing. Mountain
bike tracks, mountain bikes for hire.
Gasteinertal in winter
80 km of ski slopes. Snow park, halfpipe. Ski school, childrens
ski school. cross country ski tracks (illuminated), high altitude pistes. Toboggan-runs.
Artificial ice rink. Indoor tennis hall. Ski bus (free of charge). The ski area
is part of the Amad ski area. In Gasteinertal there are:
- Ski runs; blue 10, red 30, black 5.
- Lifts; funicular 1, gondolas 8, chairs 14, drags 29.
- Cross country skiing; 80 km
- Lift passes; Gasteinertal 165 euro, Ski Amade 205 euro.
