Damuls is centrally situated in the Vorarlberg region in
the west of Austria. It is one of the closer resorts to the Channel Ports,
although its isolated position deep in the mountains can mean access
problems in heavy snow. The resort is approached from the A14 motorway on
the border between Austria and Switzerland. It's 576 miles from Calais -
about a 10 hour drive.
At an altitude between 1400m and 2100m above sea level,
Damuls is the highest holiday resort between Bregenzerwald region and Groes
Walsertal valley. The skiing is excellent, and this resort would really suit
those looking for a quieter holiday than can be found in the big resorts.
Because of its height, the snow is good throughout the season.
In Winter Damuls offers deserted slopes with deep snow,
48km of marked ski runs and ski routes at all levels of difficulty, 12km of
cross-country skiing tracks and an extensive snowboarding park. Guests can
choose to ski in/out of the hotels or use the village ski bus (free of
charge) and store/collect boots and skis from the heated boot room at the
Uga chairlift.
In summer Damuls is a haven for hikers and mountain bikers.
All guests staying 3 or more nights at the Hotel Damulser Hof in summer
receive a complimentary Bregenzerwald Card which gives access free of charge
to the lifts, buses, mountain railways and swimming pools.
