A modern resort situated on a lovely plateau, 75 km east
of Grenoble (railway station TGV and airport). Numerous good restaurants. A
lively resort with plenty to do. 5 piano bars, night clubs, child-minding
service for over 2, fitness centre, heated outdoor swimming pool, cinema,
heli-skiing, conducted alpine tours and the fastest cable cabin in the
world, the "Jandry-Express", which climbs to 3200 m in 20 minutes.
Access: Les Deux Alpes is
easy to reach by car. There's a motorway all the way to Grenoble, then an
easy 65 km drive along the RN 91 to the turning for the resort, itself along
an easy road. Driving time from Calais is a little over 9 hours not counting
stops.
The nearest railway
station at Grenoble 70km (43 miles) away, has a regular bus link and is on
the high-speed TGV line so can be reached from Paris in 3 hours or Lyon in 1
hour - making the train-bus combination from these cities probably faster
than the airport-airplane-airport-transfer of the air options.
The airport at Grenoble is the closest, then Lyon, next closest at 160km
(100 miles). There is a direct bus link between Lyon airport and Les 2 Alpes
named "Satobus". Geneva is 240km (150 miles) away.
Les Deux Alpes in summer
45 tennis courts, table tennis tournaments, cycle races,
"Super-Women" (swimming, jogging, aerobics), tennis, aerobics, cycle-cross
and skating rinks. Largest summer skiing area in Europe from 3000 - 3600 m.
Les Deux Alpes in winter
This bustling resort has a great atmosphere and skiing for
every level on fantastic snow. Snowboarders are very well catered for.
There's also perhaps the liveliest apres-ski in the French Alps.
