Lovely, quiet village, which has managed to retain its traditional character, despite its rapid development as a holiday resort. Situated in the centre of the Mont-Blanc range, it offers plenty of sporting activities. If you're looking for a resort with good skiing but relatively uncrowded and not too lively, Les Houches could be for you. Chamonix 13 km. Geneva 90 km. Grenoble 190 km.

1 cable car, 12 ski lifts, 50 km of downhill runs, ski school for adults and children, 3 cross country ski tracks, ice rink. There's good intermediate skiing through the trees, excellent beginners' slopes and a good ski school. The most central village in the valley, Les Houches is well-placed to make the most of the Mont Blanc Pass. There's a reasonable night-life, paragliding, dog sleighs, a climbing wall and a snow shoe adventure walk.
