Les Menuires is a purpose-built resort offering good
value, top quality skiing. At its heart is La Croisette from where the lifts
leave for Val Thorens and Meribel. The resort is in three parts, all having
their own collection of shops, bars and restaurants. There are plenty of
nursery slopes, miles of gliding pistes for intermediates, and challenging
runs and moguls in the mountains. Boarders are well-provided for with a
snowpark, half-pipe and varying slopes.
Les Menuires in summer
20 tennis courts, riding, archery, open-air swimming pool,
100 km of hikes, 2 mountain lifts.
Les Menuires in winter
The resort of Menuires belongs to the prestigious "Three
Valleys", the largest ski area in the world (600 kms of ski runs and 200
mountain lifts). The ski area of Menuires/St Martin de Belleville (45 lifts
over 160 km of ski runs) is suitable for all levels, from the beginner to
the more advanced skier. Menuires has 315 snow cannons which can support the
snow cover, making it one of the top resorts for artificial snow. At
Menuires you can go snow walking or snow-mobileing, you can go ice skating
and after that you can plunge into a heated outdoor swimming pool at 30
degrees!
Access: The resort is accessed by a good road from
Moutiers, 17
miles away in the bottom of the valley. The A43 toll motorway runs as far as
Albertville after which the N90 main road continues to Motiers. Driving time
from Calais is just over 7 hours, not counting stops, making this one of the
most accessible of the French ski resorts. Chains should be carried in case
of adverse weather. The airport at Geneva is 143km (89 miles) away, with
Lyon 183 km (115 miles) and the airport at Chambery only 100km (63 miles).
All are linked directly to the resort by a ski bus service.
The rail station at Motiers has high speed TGV train connections to Paris
and international trains run from London via the Channel Tunnel on Saturdays
through the season.
The 27km (17 miles) up to the resort from the station is covered by a
regular bus service, or there are more than 12 taxi companies operating.
On arrival in the resort there is an information point which remains open
all through Saturday night for any information and assistance. There
