Les Praz de Chamonix is a
cosy little village for holidays situated at the valley station of the cable
cabin "La Flegere", 2 km from Chamonix in the direction of Argentiere.
Regular bus service for Chamonix and Argentiere. Railway station 1 km. Shops
and restaurants in the resort.
On the sunny side of the valley, Les Praz enjoys views
across to Mont Blanc and the "Sea of Ice". The slopes immediately above the
village are served by the cable car up to 1900 metres. 3 chairlifts serve
the slopes and a further cable car links into the large Brevent ski area.
Ski buses take you to all the slopes of the valley. Although Les Praz is
quiet at night, you can walk along the well-lit 2 km path by the river to
Chamonix.
Access: Les Praz
is one of the easiest resorts in the Alps to reach; despite its high
altitude skiing the resort itself is not terribly high and is close to the
Mont Blanc Tunnel so there is a four lane road running right up to Chamonix
which is always well maintained. The driving time from Calais is about 8
hours without stops.
The resort also boasts probably the best rail connections of any ski resort
outside Japan, with a TGV high speed link via Saint Gervais travelling at
around 170 mph (270 kph). It's possible to catch the TGV 'Snow
Special' in Paris on a Friday evening and be in the resort at just after
11pm.
There are bus connections from Geneva. Geneva is the closest
international airport, only 96 km (60 miles) north west, a 95 minute drive.
Low-cost airlines fly to Chambery (90 miles) and Lyon (140 miles).

all the other wintersport facilities of Chamonix in the immediate vicinity.
Combined with the ski region of Chamonix Mont Blanc there are 41 mountain
lifts and 150 km of ski runs.
