Spain has the second highest average altitude
in Europe after Switzerland, providing a variety of options for skiing in the
Pyrenees. The mountainous terrain provides the
slopes, and snow cannons are now used to offset the lack of reliable snow.
-
It's not difficult to access these resorts by car, as long as
you don't have the bad luck to be arriving in the middle of a snow storm.
From Pau in south-west France take the N134 through the tunnel to Spain
where you pick up the N330 and double back onto the N260. If you've arrived
via the Mediterranean and enjoyed
the pleasures of Barcelona and the Coast then just head for Zaragoza before
turning north on the A23/N330.

- One of the great benefits of driving to Spain for your
skiing is that you can join the residents of Barcelona on the slopes of the
Catalonian Pyrenees at excellent resorts such as Baquiera Beret, whilst deeper
in the Pyrenees we offer self-catering accommodation in the resorts of Jaca, Puigcerdą/Cerdanya, Sabinanigo, Taull,
Tramacastilla del Tena and Villanua.
- The two major resorts are Formigal and Panticosa, and
here we have a selection of hotels. These resorts are all roughly 80 km North
of Zaragoza towards the French border. Surrounded by spectacular scenery with
hardly a Brit in sight!
