St Anton in Arlberg is
one of the oldest ski resorts in the world, and has to this day
maintained its reputation for excellent skiing and an exuberant
night life. It forms part of the Arlberg ski domain, which offers
challenging guided off-piste adventures, as well as providing intermediates
and experts with some great skiing. |
The main street in the village is traffic-free and packed
with bars, cafs and restaurants. Music bars and clubs provide the rest of
the famous St Anton apr ski experience.

Access:
St Anton is located at the western end of Austria and the Tyrol, next to
the Arlberg tunnel. The nearest airport is Innsbruck, just 100km( 65 miles
) away, there's another small low-cost airport at Friedrichshafen (140km
/ 90 miles). The larger international airports at Munich and Zurich
are both 200km (130 miles ) distant and linked by rail (station in Zurich
airport), weekend bus service, or rental car.
Drivers from Zurich and the west should arrive via the A14/E60 and the Arlberg
Pass or Tunnel (14km long / 9 miles, fee payable). From Innsbruck,
Munich and Salzburg via the A12/E60.
Rail travellers will find St Anton a particularly good destination with
the station central in the village and major international services stopping
here (it was the construction of the rail way line and the associated tunnels
that helped to keep employment levels up in the area in the decades prior
to skiing).
