Val d'Isere is part of
the Espace Killy, and the skiing is difficult to beat. There are
miles of great intermediate pistes, the glacier at Tignes, the long
runs down to La Daille, and experts will test their skill and nerve
on the Olympic downhill, the steep moguls of the Face and the huge
number of off-piste possibilities. |
The apres-ski can be very lively, but with tea dances
as well just about everyone is catered for. Non-skiing activities include
microlite flights, snowmobiles, husky sleighs, parasailing, ice driving,
ice climbing, under-ice diving, snow shoe walks and skating. You can even
ski at night if you've still got the energy!
Access: The nearest international airport is Geneva,
113 miles. Lyon is slightly further away 133 miles.
Road access to the resort is via the A43/A430 to Albertville, from where
it is a 35 mile drive on the D902 to Val d'Isere. In common with other major
resorts Val d'Isre is taking action to reduce the increasing congestion
caused by too many cars and too little space (especially when there's a
lot of snow). Pedestrian areas are therefore given priority in the centre
of the resort and the 10 car parks are charged for.
The nearest rail station is 18 miles away at Bourg St Maurice.
